One of the most common questions we get from homeowners considering a replacement is how disruptive the process is. The straightforward answer is that most residential replacements are completed within one to three days, depending on the number of windows and doors being replaced and the complexity of the openings.
Our team handles removal and installation. The existing frames come out, the new joinery goes in, and the finishing around each opening, both inside and out, is completed before we move on. The home is habitable throughout the process, and rooms are typically only out of use for the duration of the work in that area.
When it comes to replacement joinery, homeowners broadly have two options. A like-for-like retrofit keeps the existing opening size and replaces the joinery within it. This is usually the most straightforward and least disruptive approach, and it works well when the existing openings are appropriately sized and positioned.
A full replacement, where the opening is modified as part of the process, makes sense when the existing windows are too small for the space, when a different door configuration would work better for the room, or when the goal is to significantly change the look of the home from the outside. This involves more work but gives more flexibility in what the result looks like.

A significant portion of Christchurch's housing stock was built during eras when single glazing was standard and aluminium frames were basic. Many of those homes still have their original joinery, functional enough to keep the weather out, but well below what modern glazing delivers in terms of thermal performance, noise reduction, and condensation control.
The gap between original single-glazed joinery and a properly specified modern replacement is substantial. Homes that have been retrofitted with double glazing and thermally broken frames consistently report noticeable improvements in how the home feels through winter, warmer rooms, less condensation, lower heating costs, often from the first season after installation.
Homes are assessed on presentation and condition, and joinery is one of the first things a buyer or valuer registers, both from the street and from inside. Original single-glazed windows, timber frames showing age, or aluminium frames with condensation staining and worn seals all signal deferred maintenance regardless of how well the rest of the home has been looked after.
New double-glazed joinery throughout a home changes that picture significantly. It reads as a substantial upgrade, it removes one of the most common items flagged in pre-purchase building reports, and it brings the thermal performance of the home in line with what buyers increasingly expect from a Canterbury property.

We replace windows across the full Omega range, in both the 300 Series and the 800 Series thermally broken system. Both are available across all standard window styles (awning, casement, sliding, bi-fold, and fixed) and both are custom-measured to your existing openings.
The 300 Series is a well-proven system for residential homes and renovations. It handles Canterbury conditions reliably, is available with 24mm high-performance double glazing, and delivers a clean, modern finish at a price point that suits most residential replacement projects.
The 800 Series thermally broken system is suited to homes where thermal performance is the priority. The thermally broken frame significantly reduces heat transfer through the frame itself not just through the glass) which makes a meaningful difference in homes where energy efficiency and condensation control are the main concern. It's also the right specification for homes in higher wind zones and for architectural builds where the frame profile and finish need to meet a higher standard.
Both systems are double-glazed, both are finished in powder-coated aluminium across a wide colour range, and both are installed by our own team with a full quality check before sign-off.
We replace doors across the full Omega suite, in both the 300 and 800 Series systems. Available configurations include sliding, stacking, bi-fold, hinged, and French doors, all custom-made to your existing openings and all double-glazed.
The 300 Series covers the full door range at a specification that suits most residential replacement projects. Sliding and stacking doors in the 300 Series are engineered for Canterbury conditions, tested for wind and weather, with a seal compression system that manages drafts and moisture, and heavy-duty rollers rated to carry panels over 300 kilograms. The track system includes a sump to contain debris and prevent buildup under the panels, and the no-trip threshold allows internal and external floor levels to align flush.
The 800 Series thermally broken system adds advanced thermal break technology to the frame construction, which improves energy efficiency and indoor comfort significantly for homes where the door is a major part of the building envelope. The 800 Series external sliding door is tested to extra-high wind zone standards, making it the right specification for exposed Canterbury properties. Locking across both hinged and sliding configurations is multi-point, and the hardware throughout is stainless steel. Both systems are powder-coated in a wide range of colours and installed by our own team. Every replacement door installation includes a full quality check and operational walkthrough before we leave the site.
